Welcome to The Home of “Jazz In The Classroom”

"Jazz in the Classroom" brings a multifaceted presentation to schools and institutions that both have strong music programs, or none at all. Equal parts energetic performance, informative history lesson and a hands on experience make this an extremely unique and custom-tailored program that is able to encourage students passion for music, as well as general communication skills and self confidence.

Our Organization

“Jazz In The Classroom” brings the professional touring Jazz/Funk/World ensemble “The Brighton Beat” to schools providing a unique program showcasing not only a lively performance, but offering engaging and unique lessons about Jazz/American music history, listening, communication and improvisation skills and how they can be utilized both in and out of the world of music. Culminating in a unique hands-on training, music students are then able to put these ideas into practice and feel more comfortable and confident on their instrument, and as developing, successful adults. We continue to experience an incredible response from the schools we visit, often employing our techniques and ideas for the remainder of the school year with great success.

Public Support and Donations

As many school budgets are limited, especially when it comes to arts funding, “Jazz In the Clasroom” is able to sustain our offerings to schools of all budgets by donation support and fundraising efforts. Donations give us the opportunity to make sure every school, regardless of economic status has equal opportunity to benefit from the program.

Also with your donation support, we are able to provide free entry to our yearly fundraising concert at The Clayton Opera House to all students 18 years and younger, again making sure these students learn and experience the great and truly American art form of Jazz music.

We are eternally grateful for your support of “Jazz In The Classroom” and through our partnership with the Northern New York Community Foundation, we are able to accept your generous, and 100% tax deductible contributions with just a few clicks, and they accept all forms of payment!

We have also established an endowment fund with the Northern NY Community Foundation to build a permanent resource to support the program forever. For more information on how to leave a substantial lasting impact, please contact the Foundation at (315) 782-7110.

Supporting Jefferson County, NY…and Beyond!

“Jazz In The Classroom” began in Jefferson County, NY in 2017 and is based out of Clayton, NY. We have had the pleasure of bringing our program to many schools in the Northern NY region and continue to every October. Since the “The Brighton Beat” is based in Westchester County NY/New York City, starting in 2023, we have expanded this incredible program to schools in the Hudson Valley and are thrilled to be able to give back in many of the members hometowns.
